North Lake Tahoe has the best beach access anywhere in the area. Having lived in Tahoe City for 5 years, I can tell you the West Shore is the Best Shore in the summer time, with beach, biking and trail access that can take you deep into the wilderness.
The homes in North Lake Tahoe often have the old Tahoe feel, although there are many newer developments in North Lake Tahoe too. Many communities come with homeowner piers, beach access and buoys. It is important to ask if this is the case when looking in this area as this can increase the value and amenities of your vacation or full time home in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
